Hi Y'all,
so today I've got something special for you! I interviewed fashion model- Damon Nelson, who's also my instafriend. So without further ado, enjoy!
First of all, tell me how your career started?
Me and my friends always took pictures just for fun and a photographer noticed them through a Facebook group and asked to do an actual professional test shoot which then lead me to getting signed to an agency and the rest is history.
What has been your favorite shoot/campaign to date?
My favorite shoot has been the clay photo shoot which was featured in Photo Vogue on the Vogue Italia website. The entire team was amazing and it was a true artistic experience. I think the photos really tell an amazing story visually.
Is there any brand that you would love to model for?
My dream is to do campaigns for high fashion designers like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Marc Jacob. Their designs are beautiful and luxurious.
What's your favorite type of modeling? (Runway, editorial...)
That really is so hard to choose! I love the rush of doing running but love the personal connection and the aspect of story telling that you get while doing an editorial. So I would have to say both editorial and runway!
Is modeling an easy job or more strenuous than people realize?
I think there's so much more to it than people think. People see the final image and think it is easy and glamorous, what they don't see is the hours of planning and hard work that goes into every shoot. However I do find the outcome worth it!
What's the best and worst thing about being a model?
The best part is that I am able to use my artistic skills and vision to help create a story and awesome visual content! The hardest part about modeling would have to be not letting yourself get down after rejection. It can be a very hard industry to get into.
Who’s your role model?
Modeling wise my biggest role model would be Kate Moss, I think everything about her is so amazing and flawless. She does what she wants and makes it look so effortless. I also look up to Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga, and Miley Cyrus. Basically anyone who isn't afraid to take a stand in for what they believe in!
How would you describe your personal style?
I would describe my style as classy and simple with grunge influences.
What are your top three must items in every men closet?
A nice button up, well fitted jeans, and good shoes!
Ten years from now, where do you see yourself?
That is really hard! I would say maybe getting married and having a family while possibly running some type of business. Hopefully whatever I'll be doing I am happy.
